Dear Sis Chan,
It has been nearly a year since the last posting, I am very happy to inform you on the update of TNRM program:
The first week of March, 2016, Thong-phoom has slowly developed skin infection during her pregnancy and continued even during her lactating period. I consulted the vet for her medication but unfortunately there was no choice of proper medication for her condition particular the side effects of the drugs towards her puppies for a lactating mother. Her condition got worsen within 1-2 days till the infection spread around her eye which she was really in agony. The vet was then consulted immediately. Of more than a week in the clinic, Thong-phoom was back to her normal self once again with a new lead of life after SPAYED.
Two months later, Thong-pha, another female groupmate, has also been SPAYED after her 2 remaining puppies grown up. Unfortunately, we have so far not been able to catch the third female dog in this group. Nevertheless, there will be one fine day that our aim will be achieved, no matter what. Ever since the day that they were abandoned by their owner, I have gone through thick and thin situations of these 3 lovely ladies with their good natures.
4th May, 2016, another 3 female dogs were sent to the clinic and was back to their place a week later for being SPAYED. After a much debate with few people out there, I came to aware the perception and also the intention of us so called humans toward these poor innocent animals, remain inhumane. It is clear that a breed dog is very much preserved for being the future breeder just because it is not commonly seen among strays, as was planned for one of these 3 dogs that either accidentally be born as Labrador from a local breed dog or sought from any commercially mill dog, is amusing. It also took me by surprise to learn that there is no benefit of animals from being spayed/neutered in the eye of those narrow minded individuals who being blinded from their old tradition as well as ignorance. Furthermore, it is very confusing and questionable of those who claimed oneself as being the owner of these poor animals. The definition of “Ownership” seems obsolete and does not serve its purpose for being far from responsibility. From this incidence, TNRM program has a long way to go and education might not be sufficient to effect a paradigm shift in the mindset of those people. After all, I am very happy that more than 10 dogs have been spayed/neutered to promoting TNRM program. There are few more females to go for this program and our male dogs will be scheduled for their turns.
This work cannot be fulfilled without our generous sponsors who understand and come forward to supporting the importance of neutering program. Most importantly, I am very grateful to Dr Tan Thiam-Khoon who willingly takes time off from his busy schedule, takes these dogs to the clinic and brings them back after a week of boarding to where they belong.
Speak up, Take action and Never give up!
Thank you for the opportunity.
