HERO ACTS AS HUMAN SHIELD TO STOP MAN FROM KICKING PREGNANT DOG
Serendipity is the secret sauce in every simmering rescue story, and for Bosnian rescuer Edina Pasic, it was the very thing that landed her in the right place at the right time to protect a pregnant dog and her seven unborn puppies from the attack of a madman.
Edina was on her way to visit the rescued cats she is temporarily boarding while they await adoption. Most of the time, she finds a friend to drive her, but this day she took the bus.
“It was destiny because if I had been driven by car, I would not have see her because the car wouldn’t stop where the bus did. I needed to walk another 15 minutes from the bus stop.”
And during that walk is when Edina saw something that made her blood run cold.
“I had told myself that I can’t rescue any more animals until at least half of the ones already under my care are re-homed, but today I saw a monster kicked a pregnant dog in the stomach with full force, in the middle of the city,” Edina said. “She screamed so loudly that many turned to look, but no one bothered to come over to her.”
“I ran over to her ,” Edina said describing how she stood in front of the dog so he couldn’t kick her again. “I told that idiot what I thought about his actions, and he, being full of himself was very unfriendly towards me. I asked him what the poor dog had done to deserve this and his answer was that she was walking beside him.”
“We started to argue and I think the dog noticed that I was defending her, because she sat down beside me. I sat down beside her and she placed her front legs on my lap, wagging her tail. She broke my heart. The look in her eyes was painful to see. In addition to her big belly and everything she has to go through every day, this was the last thing she needed. I was worried that he had killed her babies.”
Edina took the dog to the vet and an ultrasound was performed
All the pups were born healthy and one of them was adopted just yesterday. All it takes is one person in a crowd, just one, to do the right thing.
SUPPORT OUR RESCUES IN BOSNIA: We now need to sponsor complete veterinary care for all the dogs, including spay/neuter. We’re actually caring for hundreds of dogs in Bosnia and thousands of animals internationally this month. To help, please make a one-time donation or enroll in our monthly giving program.
