HOW MANY ANIMALS ARE AT OUR WILDLIFE RESCUE CENTRE?

Our most important fundraising event of the year- our annual Gala Dinner is just around the corner. On the 20th of May, we aim to raise $180,000, some of which will be channelled towards our work at the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Centre.

Please support our efforts by attending our Gala Dinner this May 20th. You can buy your tickets here: www.simplygiving.com/event/acresturns15

Why do we need your support?

Sadly, there are many exotic animals in Singapore that have been illegally smuggled into the country or bred here to supply the demand for exotic pets.

Many are abandoned. Many are neglected. We offer a safe sanctuary to such animals at the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Centre (AWRC), which is the only dedicated wildlife rescue centre in Singapore.

Right now, we are taking care of around 170 animals all victims of the illegal wildlife trade. This includes over 100 Indian star tortoises, over 10 African ball pythons, more than 10 South American iguanas, and over 30 pig-nosed turtles from the Indonesia/Australia region.

Our ultimate aim is to send them back to their native country, but this task is complicated and very expensive. In the meantime, we strive to make their lives as comfortable as possible at the AWRC.

Most importantly, we use the AWRC as an educational facility, raising awareness on why wild animals are not pets and the cruel illegal wildlife trade. Our ultimate goal is to eradicate the need for a wildlife rescue centre at all, once the demand for wild animals as pets stops.
