SATURDAY CRIME NIGHT � BIRDS ON SALE KEPT IN A FILTHY ENVIRONMENT

This month, the ACRES Animal Crime Investigation Unit (ACIU) investigated a report about a shop at Serangoon that was allegedly housing birds that were on sale in poor conditions. Our investigators found that the birds for sale were indeed being kept in unacceptable conditions; birds were being kept in filthy, rusty cages, with algae-filled water and food bowls.

Our officers gathered photographic evidence and forwarded the case to the relevant authority for action to be taken. We have since been informed that enforcement action has been taken against the shop. During a follow-up investigation, we noted that the shop had improved the living conditions for the birds.
