AT JUST 5 MONTHS OF AGE, I WAS IN A WORLD OF PAIN

Imagine being born on the street with no human to care for you and no place to call home. Every day is a fight for survival, a battle to find food and stay safe.

Millions of us live like this every day – we simply have no hope without you. My name is Rusten and this is my story.

I was just learning to get to grips with the world around me when, in a moment of carelessness, I ran into a busy street and was instantly hit by a car. Flung to the side of the road, everyone heard my screams of pain. I had fractured my leg.

I had to have surgery to fix my broken leg and I am now having something called physio to ease me into using it again. My journey to recovery will take some time but day by day, I make progress. Despite all I have been through, I am one of the lucky ones. I am alive.
