SUNSET SLITHERS BACK HOME!

Sunset is a Kopsteins bronzeback snake, who was found inside someones house. Fear is a common and natural response to snakes. So when we received the call, we advise not to panic but to keep an eye, or close the room and wait for us. Many callers understand and wait for us to arrive, however most often our worst fears come true. From fear, when the snake was seen at the storeroom, the resident sprayed Baygon on the snake and slammed the door shut.

We arrived to rescue Sunset dazed and motionless, but alive. The resident felt bad after we educated about these animals. Thankfully Sunset did not suffer any fractures. Following a good nights rest through incubation and oxygen, Sunset grew more active and drank a lot of water.

Sunset is just one of the examples amongst several cases we come across where the snake or monitor lizard has already been injured from fear.

We believe that education is the only way to encourage more individuals to let these animals be, to avoid unnecessary panic and hurting the animal or even themselves. Wild animals can turn defensive when threatened (just like us), and please leave them alone when sighted in outdoor spaces.

If sighted within built environment, which may accidentally happen when they follow a prey such as lizard or rat please give us a call for advise or assistance and help us keep an eye on the animal from a distance.

Lets all do our part in living in harmony with nature!

If you see any wild animal in need of help, please remember to call our 24-hour wildlife rescue hotline 9783 7782 for assistance.

Learn more of ways to help and come meet us at our roadshow Our Wildlife, Our Responsibility at Hougang Mall Level 2 and 5 this Saturday and Sunday 11 am 9 pm!

Have a great weekend everyone!
