Believe it or not, I just learnt about Greek yoghurt over Pet Fiesta. Apparently, it’s a much hyped about food these days.
Here’s some information about it: http://health.usnews.com/health-news/diet-fitness/diet/articles/2011/09/30/greek-yogurt-vs-regular-yogurt-which-is-more-healthful
So, I bought Greek yoghurt for the cats (and myself) today. For the cats, I read that yoghurt helps transition them to raw food because it provides healthy bacteria to the gut.
Indy was already very excited the moment I brought the jar in.
Everyone ate except Cow and…Cleo!
Yes, Cleo did not like it. But she did lick a bit of it.
Cow, try some?
No, he refused.
Indy wasn’t crazy about it either, but he didn’t mind eating up Cow’s portion.
Of course the PatioCats ate it all up.
Vincent is a guzzler these days, ever since he recovered. I’m so glad!
I ate up the rest of it!
Cleo: Shouldn’t you know better than to give me Greek Yoghurt from a jar? I’m a BARF-eater. Why would I need yoghurt??
Please consult your vet before giving any new types of food to your animals.
I’d like to also share this story with you: I was talking to Coco&Joe’s Mr Ang and he shared that when they were experimenting raw foods for their own cats, they found that their cats refused to eat certain “nice looking” fish. Then they discovered why – those “nice looking” fish had been soaked in formalin! Yes, yikes!! But when they switched to sardines (and especially the not-so-nice looking ones), the cats ate!
So, here’s an eye-opener for me. I will trust that the cats know better. And if they don’t want to eat something, I will not force them.
On hindsight, the same actually happened with our cats too. Remember during CNY, I gave them a treat of ikan kembung and they all liked it? Later on, I bought bawal putih (thinking that it would be a better treat) and none of them liked it. In fact, they all refused to eat it.
I guess we know why now….
And it’s rather sad that we humans don’t know how to tell the difference. We’ve lost our survival instincts. Or did we even have it, to begin with?
