It has been brought to my attention that there are rescuers who apply to our fund to subsidise medical cases (which includes surgery), but at the same time, they also apply to other organisations for the same assistance. Some also source for funds through their personal facebook and twitter pages, blogs or websites as well.
As such, as of today, I will reveal the actual amount subsidised by us so that readers and other people or organisations will be informed that such an amount has already been disbursed to the said rescuer.
This does not apply to our spay-neuter sponsorship as vets have requested that their rescue rates be kept confidential and I have to respect this. If rescuers bring their animals to our panel vet, it is free of charge as we provide 100% sponsorship. Hence, there is no reason for rescuers to source for funds elsewhere for this purpose. This also does not apply to vaccination charges as our subsidy only covers first-year vaccinations and we have a standard subsidy for vaccinations as stated in our policies.
Subsidised spay-neuter charges (when done at other vets) will still be revealed on this blog because I have been informed again, that some rescuers also source for other funds elsewhere to help pay the balance.
Our policies are available here: http://www.myanimalcare.org/p/policies.html and I would appreciate it very much if rescuers read the policies before applying for a subsidy from us. Our policies are subject to change from time to time depending on fund availability so please read our policies and be well informed before you apply for any financial assistance.
In the past two years, we have sponsored in full for various medical treatment and surgeries, but this is no longer applicable now. We now believe that rescuers must also bear part of the cost of the medical treatment/surgery of their rescues and not rely solely on organisations or individuals to help them. Hence, we will only provide a subsidy.
As stated in our policies, this subsidy is dependent on the case and our fund availability. The amount disbursed remains the sole discretion of our committee.
In the past, many rescuers have lamented to us that they have no money, so based on trust and goodwill we have sponsored in full, many of such cases, sometimes involving sums amounting to more than RM1000. These rescuers have also promised to give back a donation to our fund but it is sad to note that many promise but do not pay even after repeated reminders. As such, from today onwards the amount of donation given back by each rescuer will also be revealed on the blog. I believe this transparency will give greater credibility to all parties concerned.
Our spay-neuter services AT OUR PANEL VETS still remain fully sponsored by us.
In summary: 1. Spay-Neuter at our panel vets - Fully-sponsored. 2. Spay-Neuter at other vets - Subsidised. Amount will be revealed on blog. 3. Medical treatment/surgeries at our panel vets or other vets - Subsidised. Amount will be revealed on blog. 4. Donations given back by each rescuer as part/full payment for medical treatment/surgeries/spay-neuter will be revealed on the blog.
On another matter, it has also been brought to my attention yesterday that a couple has been using my name in a case involving the relocation of a large number of dogs and cats from a certain temple. Please be informed that I am NOT raising funds for this case as I have merely been asked to help out but have not received any written information about it from them. I have requested for the appeal in writing but have not received any so far.
If you hear of my name being used in any instance which is not reported in this blog, I would appreciate very much if you could write to me to inform me about it.
All cases that we help will be posted on this blog and simultaneously reproduced on our facebook and twitter pages. No other channels or public forums represent us.
Thank you.
