WOMAN ABANDONS HER DOG IN ROAD AFTER HE IS HIT BY A CAR

Tonight we learned of Meda, a dog in Serbia who was hit by a car yesterday while his “owner” was walking him on a leash. Apparently a car came down the street very quickly and the woman just barely managed to get out of the way, but for her dog, there simply wasn’t enough time. The worst part of this is that the woman left her dog lying in the road and simply went home alone.

Meda has some central nervous system damage. A full recovery is possible, but only with ongoing therapy. The small group who rescued him is already stretched so thin they can barely care for the dogs they have.

“His therapy, on daily basis, costs around 14 euros, and his pension, also on daily basis costs a little less than 5 euros. Considering our debts and the number of animals under our care, we have no idea how we will pay for everything,” Tijana Bozinovic of BETA association explains.

They are asking for so little. Could we sponsor the care for this dog? Harmony Fund is already caring for more than 750 animals in Serbia this month. The costs are HUGE. We surely could use some help.

Animal Rescue Chase

The Great Animal Rescue Chase celebrates the art of animal rescue with a worldwide race to rescue one million. It’s a free event, open to all, and is perhaps the only global animal rescue event aimed at helping any animal in distress, anywhere in the world. Our ambition is to create a culture of enthusiasm and pride in animal activism. We believe in teaching, by example, that there is a hero in each of us just waiting to be unleashed. Empowered animal lovers can not only save lives, but build the momentum for powerful animal welfare reform.
