In the last 24 hours, we have taken in six pedigree dogs, including five poodles that were either lost or abandoned. Four were taken in today and two yesterday. Some have microchips and we are tracing registration of the microchips, to identify the owners of the animals, if possible.
The dogs were found in the vicinity of Blk 734 Tampines Street 71, Blk 214 Yishun Street 21 and Blk 470A Upper Serangoon Crescent.
We understand that other animal welfare groups have found similar dogs in the past day or so.
It is possible that these animals were used for breeding and were abandoned by the same person.
Our investigations are currently ongoing and we are seeking any information that might assist with the investigations.
We urge anyone who has any information, to call our 24-hour hotline at 6287 5355 (ext. 9), or e-mail inspector@spca.org.sg. Kindly refrain from posting any leads to the case here as investigations are underway.
Information provided will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
* Under the Animals and Birds Act, anyone who is found guilty of cruelty to animals, including abandonment of any animal can be imprisoned for up to 18 months, fined up to $15,000, or both.
