I’m not exactly sure whether Vincent has fully recovered or not because on certain days, he would appear to be normal while on other days, he still seem to have some issues with eating.
And when I decide I should take him to the vet on the next day, on that very next day, he would appear to be as normal as ever! I also don’t want to unnecessarily lug him to the vet in the carrier as that’s very stressful for him (and me!) what with the clinic environment, the waiting, the other patients, etc. I’m sure it’s all very stressful to an animal.
Some days he would be totally okay around Ginger, but on other days, he still seems intimidated by Ginger.
This is an encouraging day – not intimidated by Ginger at all.
It’s nice to see him lying down without a care in the world.
On some days, he would even flip over belly-up for me. For example, today, he was quite back to his old self of “advertising” himself for adoption when a friend came to visit. He went all over the friend. He normally does this with strangers. It’s a classic “Vincent Act”.
Usually, for breakfast, he would eat with everyone else and caging isn’t necessary. But sometimes for lunch or dinner, he would sniff at the food and walk away. That’s when I have to catch him, cage him and he would only eat after facing the wall for sometime while in the cage.
I just hope he is feeling much better. The consolation is that he is eating, at least twice a day. Oh, he also walks away and refuses to eat “laced” food – whether it’s Transfer Factor or fish oil. And he hates it when I try to rub the Nutri-plus Gel on his mouth. Maybe he thinks he is well enough and he doesn’t need anymore supplements? Or maybe it’s a reminder of his “gum-painful” days? So, I dare not put anymore supplements into his food. It’s better than he eats his plain food than he develops a phobia of food and walks away without eating.
