Is It Owl Season?

We’ve just received an order for an owl pillow, and it’s for some old folks.

Since we are on active fundraising in order to sustain our fund during this bad economic period, here’s an idea for those of you who might like to bring some cheer to orphans or old folks in homes.

How about ordering our owl pillows as gifts for orphans and old folks?

It reminds me of 7-year old Taylor Crabtree who had this brainchild of selling hand-painted hair-clips in order to raise money to buy teddy bears for the children at the cancer ward in her local hospital. Seeing how happy the child-patients were at receiving a teddy bear each, soon even the adult patients began asking for teddy bears too. Taylor’s endeavour and noble intentions drew such positive response from her community that it grew into a huge enterprise and Taylor was featured by CNN and received notable acclaim. A few years back, the number of teddy bears raised was more than 30,000 and the bears were given to hospital patients all across the USA, bringing such cheer and joy to all.

Well, how about ordering our owl pillows as gifts for the less fortunate, be it orphans, old folks or hospital patients?

She’s got little feet too!

These are all the pieces needed.

The eyes are hand-sewn.

Kapok stuffing, contributed by Connie.

The whole pillow is washable. Just sun it long enough for the stuffing to completely dry.

Here we go! Ms Batik Owl, all ready to be a companion to the old folks.

I’m rather proud of my owls…ha ha, because I don’t have much sewing skills, so being able to sew the owl is quite an accomplishment for me.

Here are the previous 10 owls I sewed last year, and each one is unique as it’s hand-sewn and we cannot have two of the same. After the 10th owl, no one ordered anymore.
