1.Professional dental cleaning by the veterinarian.
2.Toothbrushing, ideally to be performed daily. Use a pet toothpaste, not a human
product.
3.Dental treats – check with your vets on the available products.
Please read the article for information but always check with your veterinarian for professional advice for your pets. Every pet’s needs may be different.
After Vincent’s bout with stomatitis, I’m a little passionate about this topic now!
The Oxyfresh Pet Gel I ordered online arrived this morning!
I shared with friends because the shipping for 4 tubes is the same as that for 1 tube.
Indy has always had gum issues since he was young, so will try it on him.
Cow has a bad tooth (identified the last time he was brought to the vet), but the vet did say that extraction is not necessary yet, the tooth can be brushed (are you kidding me?) and salvaged. I should try the Oxyfresh on Cow as well, provided I’m all prepared to rush to the human doctor to treat a wounded finger!
Ginger has gum issues too, I was told, although he has no bad breath. I guess with age, gum issues would set in.
The hardest to handle might be Vincent. He needs it most, but he’s really very put-off by now, due to the many days of rubbing the Nutri-plus Gel on his mouth (laced with meds and supplements). He is very wary of me approaching him now. Poor Vincent.
I’m thinking of letting them chew on raw bones as well, to help clean the teeth, but I haven’t quite got down to doing that yet.
The above is just a sharing. Please consult your vet for your individual pet’s needs.
