Dear Loyal supporters of Noah's Ark
2015 is fast drawing to a close and it is timely for us not just to look forward to 2016 and its challenges it presents to us but also to reflect on the events of the year.
2015 has indeed been a very eventful year for Noah's Ark CARES - we were asked to participate with several other AWGs in an inaugural Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) programme at Jurong Island in addition to our ongoing sterilization programmes in Singapore and Malaysia. It was indeed a very busy and fruitful year for Noah's Ark CARES as we have always believed that active sterilization of the stray cat and dog population is the only humane way of reducing the population of street animals.
We are happy that there has been greater awareness of this particular option and we do hope that the eventual success of this project will encourage the authorities to consider widening the scope of this alternative in other parts of the island. At least this is what we hope we can look forward to in 2016: greater participation of TNR and more adoptions of street animals by families.
Despite the growing widening of work scope, all this work is still performed by volunteers and as such I would like to extend a heartfelt and grateful word of thanks to our animal feeders, stray catchers, all volunteers and vets who have sacrificed most if not all of their free time to ensure the success of this project. It is because they care that we have been able to make the difference to these animals.
Likewise it is because you, our supporters believe that we do make a difference to the lives of all the animals that we encounter, you have continued to so generously support our efforts through timely donations of funds, time and essential requests that we have been able to continue with this never ending work.
We would not have been able to do as much as we have without everyone's help.
Last but not least I would like to thank Raymund who has given up his family, his life in Singapore to live at the sanctuary to ensure that all the animals that have been rescued are able to live out their lives in dignity and assured safety. We have much to be thankful of and therefore would like to take this time to wish everyone a huge thank you for their dedication to the animals' welfare.
So from all of us at Noah's Ark and the sanctuary -may we take this opportunity to wish each and everyone of you a Merry Christmas - and a happy and better 2016.
Yours truly,
Gek Hiang and all of us at Noah's Ark CARES
