Something New In Bunnys Place
Tweet |
I’ve always wanted to have a (sort of) cat tree in Bunny’s Place.
It has to be something natural, of course.
A real tree, preferably.
But not too tall lest Indy or Pole use it as an escape route to get out.
So our best bet was to…well, plant a tree.
We have a frangipanni tree in the vegetable garden, and it has two big branches. One of the branches needs to be cut off as it keeps over-arching to the neighbour’s.
We decided we’d try to plant this big branch (though the chances of it growing is slim, being big/old, hence, slower in growing roots and there is bound to be cat movement and spraying onto it once planted).
But we’ll try anyway!
So we got everything done up, thanks to the help of our garden maintenance team.
Then, we let the cats out.
Only Tabs dared to approach the “tree”.
Tabs: You’re a strange looking thing….
Tabs also went to check out her newly repaired table. The legs had already given way (thanks to the titans’ spraying) and we got this repaired as well.
The rest of the cats were too cautious and didn’t dare to even go near the “tree”.
Cow stayed behind the condo, using it as a shield.
What are you doing there, Indy?
Don’t you think Indy looks like some sort of feline Godfather sitting there?
Indy: I assigned Tabs to check things out.
Bunny slept through everything – the planting, the drilling (of their new shelf) and even the repairing of the light right above him. Yes, he slept through it all.
We moved this shelf from the garden to the pantry so that it can be used by the cats for naps, as well as a springboard for Indy to get to the ledge. Hopefully, it’s more fun for him now.
This shelf does have quite a “history” of sorts. First, it was placed near where Spider-Cat Indy made his grand escape, so it was taken down and I had mistakenly asked the garden person to put it aligned to a longer shelf in the garden. It being aligned was a mistake, as the cats perceived it to be now an even longer shelf and refused to share. So, two shelves now had become one extra long shelf!
I had long wanted to relocate this shelf.
Not checking it out yet, Indy?
I think it will take weeks before any cat checks it out. Cats are just that cautious, aren’t they?
Weeks ago, I bought a new scratching pad for the cats and so far only Tabs has played with it. So cats are very cautious…and they bully the youngest and the most vulnerable member to check out new things, don’t they?
Don’t they, Indy?
Indy: Tabs is my understudy and I’m giving her assignments.
Sure, Indy Don Corleone, sure…
