Vincents Breakfast

Vincent did not appear for breakfast at 7am today. No one really looked for Vincent except Heidi. She didn’t eat first; she went out to the porch to look for Vincent, then only came back to eat. Good girl, Heidi. You’re the best!
But Vincent did not come…
I suspect Vincent is not happy with Zurik because it’s a reminder to him that he had failed in his soldier-duty to prevent Zurik from invading and to make things worse, Zurik is always here now. Zurik has even taken over Vincent’s table in the garden. Poor Vincent. And of course, Ginger makes life difficult for Vincent too by making the latter feel very unwelcome. Daffodil and Rosie too shows distinct favouritism towards Zurik and total neglect and apathy towards Vincent by ignoring him. Poor, poor Vincent….!!
Later, at about 7.30am, I found Vincent atop my car in the porch!
Yay!
And he was with Rosie too. That’s a good thing – at least he is not afraid of Rosie!
I kept his breakfast for him, but he didn’t want to eat atop the car, so he came down and he looked afraid.
I finally managed to coax him to eat.
He finished most of the wetfood. I didn’t give any kibble this time since he seemed to not like it.
Ginger was at the patio all the time, so that’s probably why Vincent didn’t dare come. I think we should have intervened more aggressively when Ginger started bullying Vincent. Well, we did stop Ginger each time and we aren’t home all the time to ensure Ginger would not bully Vincent too. This bullying has been going on for months now and guess it isn’t surprising that things have become what they are now.
Well, I did think about this too. One of the ways would be to rehome Zurik, but er…who wants to adopt Zurik? I’ve tried and nobody wanted him. And if you go by the majority, Zurik only causes trouble to us humans (by making a total nuisance of himself, sneaking into the house and pee-ing on the sofas); he is dearly and affectionately accepted by the Birds. Heidi, of course, has no quarrels with anyone as long as you don’t tread on her path…literally!
Vincent, on the other hand, is, unfortunately, not liked by Zurik and Ginger. Daffodil and Rosie are neutral towards him but they show clear biased affection to Zurik. I don’t know why. Vincent is a nice guy and Zurik is a sneaky gangster, but…(I don’t know why the Birds like Zurik!!).
After breakfast, Vincent wanted to go. He still looked afraid. Is Ginger’s intimidation so bad?
Vincent always goes to the left of the gate. I know there are two houses down the road that have many cats, so perhaps the cat community is friendlier there. I hope so. Vincent doesn’t deserve to feel ostracised in any way. He is a nice cat.
Heidi: Come back, Vincent. Don’t go.
Good girl, Heidi, but Vincent wants to go. Let him…
To the left…to a happier community?
Do please come back for food, Vincent. Any time, okay?
Before Willy stopped coming daily for food, he also came intermittently, just as what Vincent is doing now. Ironically, it was Vincent who didn’t allow Willy to join the patio. But then again, Vincent is a soldier and he was only doing his duty. Willy and Vincent entered the patio on the very same day, but Vincent stayed (stood his ground) and disallowed Willy from coming in. That is why Willy could only eat outside, across the road.
Timmy suddenly disappeared one day and stopped coming, but before that, Timmy was very upset with Zurik and they were constantly quarreling (war cries).
Now, Vincent and Zurik are always at each other’s throat (not fighting physically, but just war crying), not only at the patio but also outside of the house. Ginger, as sweet as he is, somehow, does not like Vincent and Ginger bullies him and makes him feel very unwelcome.
Humans can only do so much.
I do wonder why homes with 30+ cats cope. I am only looking after 13 and look at the drama I have to contend with!
If Vincent has a friendlier community to join, I hope he is happy there, gets good food and gets to take peaceful naps. But I hope he comes back daily to let us know he is fine.
