A NEW GADGET TO HELP WITH OUR IN-HOUSE ANIMAL FOOD PRODUCTION!

We at ACRES are so delighted with our latest �gadget�: the Aerobin Compost Bin! The great folks from Integrated Motion Technology Pte Ltd (IMT) kindly donated the Aerobin to ACRES.

At the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Centre, we feed a lot of vegetables to the animals in our care. The tortoises don�t really eat the stems, so we usually discard them or scatter them around roots of plants to act as fertiliser. We�ve been told that a compost bin would be perfect for us to reduce our waste output and at the same time provide a rich source of fertiliser material for our plants �many of which provide flowers for the animals to eat. We were open to the idea, but our hectic animal care work made us worry about the process of composting and the maintenance.

A few weeks ago, the guys from IMT contacted us about wanting to donate the AEROBIN to us. It�s going to be a great way to compost the stems and leftover food, and for staff and volunteers to learn more about composting! And we look forward to growing more flowers, and perhaps other types of food, for the rescued animals, with the help of the fertiliser!
