Yogi was living on the streets of Thailand, being fed by local restaurants, when one person decided they didn’t want him there and threatened to kill him. This is how this handsome boy arrived at our shelter and ended up being adopted by Marie in Ontario, Canada.
Please read below an extract from Marie’s wonderful update on Yogi. Street animals like Yogi are entirely dependent on you. Please pledge whatever you can today to help them: https://ert.soidog.org/
“The night that Yogi landed at Toronto Pearson Airport, was the night my life changed for the better. The first time that I saw his little face in his crate, I immediately saw the face of my beloved childhood dog, Princess. They both have the same fur colour, the same white markings on their faces, and the same gentle eyes. It was as if she had come back to life and I was given another chance to have some more time with her.
I knew that adopting a rescue would be a lot of hard work, but I also knew it would be worth it. It was two strangers from two different worlds learning to trust each other and build a strong, lasting relationship.
In the three months that Yogi has been in my life, I‘ve learned how to become a better person. I learned to become patient and selfless on a whole new level. When you become a pet parent, all you want is the best for your dog – you worry about the smallest things, you wonder if they need more than what they show, and you want them to live, long healthy lives. You’re willing to sacrifice it all for your dog.
Three months ago, I would bury myself in my work, too busy making a living but forgetting to make a life. It was meaningless and useless. Now, I leave my work at work because I have something more important at home.
I’m more responsible with the choices I make with food, clothing, fashion, entertainment and the environment. I see that I need to be the voice of the innocent and the suffering. I’m a better person than I was three months ago, and I continue to learn to become a better person because Yogi reminds me every day that he is the one who rescued me.”
