Farm Animals Are Banking On Us

This is a message from HSI:
The suffering of billions of animals hangs in the balance, and we are so close to tipping the scales toward a more humane future.
Last October, more than 100,000 HSI supporters urged the World Bank Group to update its policies in order to save farm animals worldwide from a life sentenced to extreme confinement. The World Bank has since consulted in 21 countries around the world and listened carefully to our plea to save farm animals. Now’s our chance to speak up before it’s too late.
The World Bank Group, which sets the standard for sustainability and social responsibility globally, will close the review process of its Safeguard policies next month. The current language regarding animal welfare is substandard and outdated—failing to provide animals the basic freedoms they deserve—so we must act now to help change it.
The change that needs to be made is simple. Updating the sentence pertaining to animal welfare in the policy could help improve the living conditions of tens of billions of animals raised for food every year. Many suffer immensely and may be unable to move freely or engage in natural behaviors due to intensive confinement.
This incredible change for animals will only happen if you help us make sure our voices have been heard.
Please act now to make this final effort our greatest one before time runs out »
Thank you for all that you do for animals.
Sincerely,
Chetana Mirle
