SHORT-TERM EXTRAMURAL PLACEMENT PROGRAMME FOR UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE STUDENT

Francine Wee, a 3rd year veterinary student from the University of Melbourne, conducted her short-term extramural placement with the animal care department from 18th to 22nd January.

In the 4 days, she had all sorts of experiences! She experienced the daily animal husbandry duties as she took care of reptiles rescued from the illegal wildlife trade at the Main Sanctuary Area. She also got plenty of experience relevant to her studies, as she assisted our Veterinary Nurse with taking care of sick animals and those undergoing treatment in the Treatment Room. In addition, she had the opportunity to take care of animals under quarantine.
