Auction: Jungle Gym Monkey Blanket (Only Bid RM288)
Thanks to PC Leong’s idea, we decided to make a monkey blanket in conjunction with the Chinese New Year, after all.
But we didn’t have any monkey print fabric, so I thought the next best is to do a monkey applique on a patchwork blanket.
Here’s the finished blanket:
I sewed the patchwork blanket from our own cloth and mum did the monkey applique!

At 7.37am, PC Leong bids RM288.
My dedicated feline team and I set to work with whatever scraps we could find. I thought a jungle floral background would be nice. And I used plain colour sashing as the monkey bars to depict a jungle gym.
I hadn’t sewn for quite sometime now, so the cats were really excited.
Yes, even Vincent participated.
Daffodil likes floral fabric!
I sewed the backing as mum as well said it would be better to applique the monkey after the backing is done. It’s stronger this way. The beige backing cloth is contributed by Agnes Cheong and the same cloth is also used on top as the border.
Using the internet as resource, I found this cute little baby monkey image and drew it out on paper.
Over to mum for the rest of the work!
My niece is visiting, so from left, it’s Wing Yi, Mum and Ming-Yi. Wing Yi and Ming-Yi helped enlarge the monkey drawing onto paper.
Felt is used for the monkey applique. It’s all pinned now.
Mum stitched it up over a few days and it was finished on Friday!
Here you go!
The blanket measures 50 inches by 72 inches.
Take home a baby monkey blanket for Chinese New Year!
Happy bidding and thank you very much for your kind support!
