During the 12 days countdown to Christmas, we bring you 12 heartwarming stories, spotlighting one special member of our SPCA family.

Day one � Spotty

This four year old boy is not only food motivated, he loves playing with his interactive toys. Even a simple game of hide-and-seek, brings him so much joy!

Each year, SPCA cares for more than 5,000 animals in need � animals who are lost, sick, abandoned, abused or who badly need a forever home. This Christmas, some of these animals will be spending the festive season at SPCA.

While pet guardianship is rewarding, getting a pet as a gift for someone else, whether at Christmas or any other time of the year, is not a good idea.

Gifting a family member or friend with a 10- to 20-year commitment to a live animal is not something one should do on impulse.

Chances are by late January or February, you’ll have your pick of pets who’ve already worn out their welcome as Christmas gifts at many animal shelters. It happens every single year.

Instead of gifting a pet, spread the Christmas cheer this season by helping a furry friend at our shelter instead. Our Christmas Wish List includes everything from animal supplies, such as litter trays and plastic kennels, to animal feed and to clinic supplies such as microchip scanners and tick and flea solution.
