MEET GABRIEL & LEE ANNE – THE TOTALLY DEDICATED COUPLE WHO HAVE SPENT ALMOST EVERY DAY VOLUNTEERING FOR WILDLIFE RESCUE!

Gabriel has been volunteering with ACRES since 2010. Over the past 5 years, he has dedicated himself to serving ACRES’s needs almost every single day! Lee Anne started volunteering with ACRES in April 2014. Today, she is an active wildlife rescue volunteer, as well as our volunteer designer! Below is a short interview in which we learn what makes both Gabriel and Lee Anne so devoted to the animals!

1. How did you get involved with ACRES, Lee Anne?

- Life felt meaningless and I was looking for an animal shelter/welfare organisation to volunteer at, as I had quit my previous job and started freelancing and found myself with quite a lot of free time on my hands. I chose ACRES because I used to be active in rescuing/spaying stray cats and dogs in my younger days and wanted to try something new. For anyone else facing an existential crisis, try doing some volunteer work. You will then realise that your own problems are actually pretty insignificant and there are bigger issues out there.

2. What experience have both of you gained so far?

- Handling different wild animals and understanding a lot more about their individual behaviour. We have also learned how to work with members of the public.

3. What message or advice would give to your peers who share the same passion as you guys to make a difference for animals?

- Be passionate, follow your heart and volunteer your time!
