There was quite a commotion in my house just now.

Out of the blue, we suddenly saw Bunny carrying a snake in his mouth!

It was so, so scary, to say the least. My husband said Bunny brought the snake down from upstairs and was heading towards the window to take it out.

I'm hopelessly terrified of snakes, so I was literally frozen with fear.  But I saw it dangling from Bunny's mouth.

Ming-Yi and my husband tracked Bunny down and he was with the (already dead) snake under a car outside. Husband got the snake out and took it far, far away.

We know there is an old wives' tale that says a dead snake's partner would come looking for it.

We don't know if Bunny killed the snake, or it was already dead when he found it. But I think Bunny was trying to bring it out of the house.

Later, Ming-Yi took a stick upstairs to check for snakes, if any, and Bunny followed along, quite proud of himself for having been the hero of the day....and rightly so!

We've also checked Bunny for any bite marks or wounds. There appeared to be none.

To Bunny, the hero, I bow down low.

He may have saved our lives tonight.

Husband said it was a black snake. That's the poisonous kind? The only time ever that a snake tried to come into our house was aeons ago, I think....about 10 years ago. It was viper. Someone had uprooted a tree nearby and I think it had upset the viper's nest.  The viper came back for three nights - we saw its slither marks on the sulphur we had sprinkled generously all over the porch. It tried to enter through the windows.

Recalling that incident, it was 4am in the morning when I found it right outside my door. We didn't have the cats then, only Bobby. The viper was asleep against the rubber strip of my front door, and it was quite obvious it had just swallowed a lizard, I think.

Scary...gives me the creeps just thinking about it.

I wonder if I can sleep tonight....
