I went to visit Calico after my talk this morning and found her waiting for company...
So lonely in a BIG room all by herself now that Mekee and Russian have been discharged.
I'm pretty sure she is on heat. She keeps wanting to nuzzle all the time.
I asked permission from the vet to feed Calico, since they do not have time to give her frequent meals. That's Hill Science ID. Calico is to be given 1/4 can.
So, so hungry....which is a good sign because she's trying to regain her weight and health.
She is still stick-thin.
The vet came by to give her her medicine - antibiotics and a flu medicine.
Maslinda and Shida came by to visit as well. We three felt Calico was well enough to be discharged. And with a fosterer, the fosterer could feed her more frequently, so she might be able to regain her health faster. It is also not wise to board any animal longer than necessary at a clinic because it might pick up diseases from the clinic. Every vet would attest to that.
So, I went down to ask the vet if Calico could be discharged. The vet checked all her records and said she could go home. While checking, he told me that amongst the three of them (Mekee, Russian and Calico), Calico actually has the best blood test results, which means she had no health problems at all - just severely dehydrated and starved. I think it was her good health that enabled her to pull through.
I just wonder how long she had been starved until she was skin and bones.
The vet told me the clinic had given the three cats names. Mekee is Cactus (because of the bits of fur on the body - like cactus). Russian is Muthu and Calico is Poochie. Muthupuchy, apparently, means bed bug!!
I settled Calico's bill (KTAJ will re-donate back to our fund),got her medication and it was time for Calico to go home to the fosterer where she would not be so lonely anymore and would be fed more frequently.
You're going home, Calico!
Be well and healthy soon.
