And A Chicken Came A-Visiting!

A few days ago, we had an unexpected visitor.
It was after the rain in the evening and I was in the kitchen when I thought I distinctly heard the sound of clucking.
“Clucking” as in chickens.
And the sound appeared to be in our garden too.
So I went out and saw this…
Yes, that’s a chicken alright!
Mr Zurik to me: There’s a chicken in our garden.
Yes, Mr Zurik, I can see that, and it’s really nice of you not to chase it. Thank you.
The chicken made herself totally at home in our garden and came to say hello at the Stargate too. She actually stuck her head through the grill but Indy’s charge at the grill sent a message loud and clear so she nonchalantly walked off.
Zurik, Vincent and Heidi did not chase the chicken. They just watched her at the porch as she waddled confidently about.
The chicken even attempted to come into the house, actually, but I had to put a stop to that. Also, the moment Ginger realised a chicken was around, he decided to give chase. I had to lock Ginger inside the house with the windows closed. Rosie was also alerted and we all know Rosie is a hunter. This time, it was Ginger who went totally chicken-hunting crazy. I had to yank him back as he tried to scale the netting to get out of the window.
I was quite surprised that Zurik decided to let the chicken be.
The two “bird hunters” had to be locked in.
I alerted our security guard just in case any household lost their chicken, but the guard said no one was looking for this chicken.
After about an hour of touring our compound, the chicken made her way out of the gate. Hopefully, back to where she belongs!
