KTAJ's founder, Nerq Suzana, called today regarding a cat who needs medical attention. This is one of the cats rescued from the latest batch of 20 cats, from that Pet Boarding facility.
Earlier on, I had offered the services of our panel vet in Subang Jaya should any of the currently rescued and fostered cats need medical attention.
The fosterer, Deedee Ibrahim, brought the cat this afternoon. Deedee said the cat appeared to have cataracts.
The cataracts are obvious.
This cat is blind, the vet said. There is no distinction between the iris and the pupil on both eyes.
The vet checked her reflexes to confirm.
We let her roam in the room and she bumped into the furniture.
Let the senior vet take a look...
Yes, she's blind.
If she's coping well (and anyway, Deedee just got her yesterday, so a few days' observation is needed), she can be left alone. Further investigation, if required, should be done by an opthalmologist.
The cat, whom Deedee calls "Katty", was dewormed. There is no evidence of any spaying done and Katty showed some signs of coming on heat when the vet massaged her back. However, even cats who have been spayed can show these signs within 6 months after being spayed because the hormones are still present in the body.
Deedee has a 3-month old male cat at home. If the male cat humps on Katty, it may mean that Katty has not been spayed.
However, Katty looks extremely well-looked after. She must be a pet.
If Katty is your pet, please contact KTAJ to retrieve her.
Today's treatment and consultation are sponsored from our funds, but KTAJ says they will reimburse us as they have funds to cover the medical needs of these rescued cats.
Tomorrow, I will be going down to visit the 3 cats boarded at the vet's in PJ.
