Our Inspectorate team (Hannah and Kelvin) attended the 3rd meeting with MPSJ on the 29th October 2015, regarding stray management. Others present were Edward of PAWS and MPSJ department reps.

Below are the points discussed during the meeting:

each local council was instructed to have a task force handling strays management

MPSJ has surveyed a few places to build Tempat Perlindungan Anjing to accommodate the interests of NGO that claimed the current 7-day holding period in pounds was too short

MPSJ proposed under UUK that the dog owner’s license can be suspended for any offences

discussing the possibility of having the dog owners go through compulsory training/Responsible Pet Ownership courses before obtaining license; we highlighted that we have PCP courses modules which could be used for such training

long discussion about dogs in construction site (banning the operator from feeding or owning dogs)

responsibilities of stray feeders.

We managed to engage an officer from the PR department and we’ll see how we can work together by sharing cruelty report data!
