Sharing All Good Things (a Daffodil Story)

Daffodil latest discovery is that “the bed is for sleeping in”, especially for long hours.
It continues to amaze us how Daffodil, street cat for more than 10 years, takes her own time, in her own stride, to discover what we do in the house and how she tries to blend in by doing what we do.
The first thing she learnt was everything about downstairs – how you can sit on the sofas and enjoy the afternoons or even sleep through the night. The next thing was that it makes us humans so thrilled and happy when she waits for us outside the bathroom. She even taught this to Ginger, Rosie, Heidi, Vincent and Mr Zurik, by taking them (in turns) upstairs to do it!
While some mother-cats let go of their motherly instinct after a few weeks (as Pole did, after 4 months), Daffodil has kept hers for more than a decade. Whenever they are eating, she would willingly move away so that Rosie or Ginger could have her food when either one of them so much as throw a glance at her bowl.
Daffodil also learnt that the bed is specially for sleeping…for longer hours, and she has been going upstairs to sleep on my blanket in the afternoons. Then, she did it after dinner as well.
And a few days ago, she took Rosie up too!
This is what the bed and the blankets are for, Rosie.
Even for cats, a mother’s duty is to share all good things with her children.
It’s very heart-warming watching the little things that the Bird Family does!
