SATURDAY CRIME NIGHT SUSPECTED FOUL PLAY IN PYTHONS BRUTAL DEATH
On 28 October 2015, the ACRES Wildlife Rescue team received a call about a python at Bukit Timah Plaza. They arrived to find a young python inert on the floor, its head and body crushed, as if stomped on. Accentuating the grisly scene was a cigarette butt placed in the pythons mouth.
Do you have any information regarding this python? If so, we want to hear from you.
If this python was indeed a victim of deliberate cruelty, we are determined to find out who is responsible and ensure that justice is served.
Under the Wild Animals and Birds Act, you may be fined up to S$1,000 for the unauthorised killing of a wild animal.
Further, under the Animals and Birds Act, whoever cruelly beats, kicks, ill-treats, tortures, infuriates or terrifies any animal; or who wantonly or unreasonably does any act that causes any unnecessary pain or suffering to an animal, may be fined up to S$15,000 and/or imprisonment for up to 18 months for a first offender. And fined up to S$30,000 and/or imprisonment of up to 3 years for subsequent offences.
