Rare Glimpse Of A Sunda Pangolin Release!

TARMAC, A SUNDA PANGOLIN, HEADS HOME!

You may have heard about pangolins, but have you ever had the chance to observe one in the wild?

Here’s a short video clip of Tarmac: a Sunda pangolin whom we released back into the wild after he was rescued by members of public when he was trying to cross a busy road. We couldn’t resist getting some footage of Tarmac slowly making his way back into the forest! Watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVq9AJfAKKA

Sunda pangolins are among the most endangered animals in the world, with the illegal wildlife trade pushing them towards extinction.

They are killed for their meat and skins, and also for various body parts which are used in traditional medicine preparations. They are also affected by habitat loss. Sunda pangolins can be found right here in Singapore! They need our protection to be able to survive for our future generations to see.

Please help to share this video to raise awareness about these beautiful animals who call Singapore home.

If you come across a pangolin wandering the fringes of our nature areas, or even in small drains moving towards forested areas, it is best to leave them alone. Dont forget to appreciate them from a distance!

But if you do come across a wild animal that you suspect needs some help (e.g. they are trapped or injured), do call the ACRES 24-hour Wildlife Rescue Hotline at 9783 7782 for advice and assistance!

If you would like to make a difference for animals by joining our team as a full-time Wildlife Rescue Officer, please visit http://www.acres.org.sg/act-now.html to learn more and send in your resume to info@acres.org.sg
