Our vet stayed back till very late last night after closing time to ensure Hero was fine before he went home.
What was thought to be a simple surgery turned out to be not so simple after all because when opened up, it appeared that the hernia must have been there for quite sometime as some of the organs that have fallen out had attached themselves to the "wrong places" and these had to be "detached" and pushed back to the right places.
I rushed over to see Hero right after work just now.
Here's Hero.
Hey you!
Checking the gums...he's very pale. Time to feed him. We offered food, he sniffed it but wasn't quite interested.
Force-feed...no choice.
He's eating now...and he finished it all and even licked the bits off the e-collar.
As he ate, we watched the circulation restored - his tongue actually changed from being pale to pink and to a healthy red.
Phew! What a welcomed transformation.
Food, glorious food!
Eat, Hero, eat....
And he did...he finished the food. It wasn't force-feeding but just putting it in front of him and he licked it all up.
The paleness indicates that there is internal bleeding probably due to the detachment of the organs and this bleeding should stop within 24 hours.
The operation also revealed that hero's liver (the parts that were dislocated outside through the hernia) was incarcerated, which means it was not healthy. But the liver can generate itself to a certain extent, so there's hope there.
Please pray for Hero's recovery. He needs our spiritual help.
I got to go now. Winnie has just brought the two bluepoints over.....updates later.
