ONE MORE STEP TOWARDS THE DAY WHEN THERE ARE NO ORCAS IN CAPTIVITY!
The cruel keeping of orcas in captivity could soon, thankfully, be a thing of the past, as decision-makers realise what experts have been saying for years: that the keeping of orcas (and other cetaceans) in captivity is cruel and has no place in the modern world.
In this latest progressive step, Californian authorities have prohibited SeaWorld in San Diego from breeding orcas in captivity, calling into question the future of the park’s killer whale attraction.
Public outcry about SeaWorld’s plans to expand their breeding programme for orcas may well have been a major factor influencing the decision. It pays to speak up and give the animals a voice!
California authorities have approved an expansion of SeaWorld’s aquarium tanks, home to their 11 orca whales.
