A STRANGER IN OUR FERAL COLONY: This cat wandered into a managed feral colony a couple months ago. It took me all summer to finally catch him. After undergoing double surgery, biting a vet tech and then surviving his first 4 days in quarantine, dear little "Fluffy Face" is beginning to show me signs that he's not feral. He allowed me to stroke his fur gently with the rounded top of an umbrella today as he laid curled up in his bed in a roomy cage. Next step is to try to pet him with a bite-proof glove. These things take time and patience, but if all goes well, this little cat will go into the foster care program and be up for adoption before Christmas. This photo shows fluffy at the vet office - still in the humane trap I caught him in.
