UPDATE ON MILK, INDIAN STAR TORTOISE
Back in June, we shared a post about Milk, an Indian star tortoise in our care who had an abscess on the side of her mouth. We needed to surgically remove the abscess.

Initially, Milk wasnt eating. We thought it was due to her abscess, but upon recovering from her surgery, she still wasnt eating. We performed a blood test, which unfortunately revealed a possible failing liver.
Our options became limited, but thanks to the fantastic veterinary team at The Pet Doctors clinic, Milk was fitted up with a feeding tube when she became critically ill. We kept our fingers crossed and provided the best care possible.
We are delighted that Milk has started to eat, as of last week. She has been spotted nibbling on small pieces of leafy greens.
Milk still has a long way to go on the road to recovery, and there are still many uncertainties about her future. But our hope is that she recovers fully and can join the other tortoises at the outdoor Sanctuary Area.
Milk was abandoned by her owners at a veterinary clinic. Her current poor state of health reflects the complex needs that these animals have and why they should never be kept as pets. We hope for a happy outcome for her and are doing our best to ensure her recovery.
