I have lived on the streets my entire life. So many have ignored me; so many have turned away. My name is Bluebell and I am only 2 years old.

I am here at the Soi Dog shelter now, horrifically emaciated and suffering with a cancerous tumour, which is very common among the street dogs of Thailand. The vets call it a transmissible venereal tumour or TVT. It means I will have to be started on chemotherapy but first, I must get stronger.

When I first arrived, I could not eat without vomiting, but I am now able to keep food down and am moving around a little bit more than I was. I am also drinking normally and the vets say I am improving by the day.

Because this tumour I have is so common among the street dogs of Thailand, the Soi Dog vets are very experienced in treating it, with a very high success rate through this medicine called chemotherapy. I am hoping I will soon be strong enough to be started on this medicine.

I am just one of several dogs, waiting patiently each day for the vets to see us. There are now so many of us here in Soi Dog�s tiny clinic. Each day, the vets are asked to help more and more dogs like me.

I hear them talk about a special hospital that is being built for sick and injured street dogs and I dare not believe it could be true. They say this special place will have all the necessary facilities to help us.

Building work has started on the hospital but funds are still desperately needed to complete it, fit it with all the necessary equipment, and then keep it running day in, day out. If this could happen, it would save the lives of thousands of dogs like me every year.
