SATURDAY CRIME NIGHT

Were starting a new animal crime series on our Facebook page, bringing you stories about crimes against animals committed in Singapore and abroad. Tune in every Saturday at 10 p.m. to get an insight into topical crime news, and send your unusual crime stories to the ACRES ANIMAL CRIME INVESTIGATION UNITs e-mail: acrescrime@gmail.com. The best story of the week gets featured on SATURDAY CRIME NIGHT!

Did you hear?! Frogs in the mail!

Someone in Singapore received what appeared to be 2 Pacman frogs through the post.

Pacman frogs (a.k.a. Argentine horned frogs, ornate horned frogs, horned frogs) are illegal to be kept or sold in Singapore. Yet, 2 were received in the mail. This raises eyebrows and questions that we want to hear your views on.

Share your views on the questions below with us at acrescrime@gmail.com, and if we like your answers, youll receive a gift from us in the mail! Questions:

1. How are live animals smuggled into Singapore undetected?

2. What further action can local authorities take to detect live animals smuggled into Singapore?

3. What do you think can be done to screen parcels in the mail for live animals?

Share this post with your friends!

This case of frogs in the mail is a grim reminder of the cruel lengths that wildlife traders and people who buy exotic animals illegally will go to, and the suffering they inflict on smuggled animals. Many smuggled animals die or are near death before they reach their destination. If you claim to love animals, dont support the exotic pet trade! End animal cruelty with us.
