NATIVE WILDLIFE RESCUE ROUNDUP: 7th AUGUST 2015
1. (Left) Luigi, a Malayan colugo, was found resting at a very odd site for his species: within an HDB estate that had no adjacent forested/vegetated area. We will never know how Luigi ended up there! Thanks to the concerned caller, Luigi was safely relocated to a more natural habitat.
2. (Top right) Kink, a monitor lizard, chose to rest inside a school premises and got spotted immediately. Thanks go to the school staff for their kind understanding and patience until we arrived. Kink was safely rescued and relocated to a suitable habitat nearby.
3. (Bottom left) Dilemma, a Sunda pangolin, found himself “on the fence”, as he couldn’t climb down! Thanks to the authorities who alerted us, Dilemma was rescued safely for relocation!
4. (Bottom right) Fear can often be a result of ignorance when it comes to wildlife. As a wildlife rescue team, our role is not only to ensure the safety and welfare of the animals, but also to educate members of public whenever the need arises. This reticulated python had been captured and inappropriately contained by members of the public. The mouth was taped so tight that the python let out a long breath when we removed the tape! The python was safely rescued and the tape was removed, before release back to the wild.
Do remember to call the ACRES 24-hour Wildlife Rescue Hotline at 9783 7782 if you spot any wild animals in Singapore who may need some help.
