So I used my own carrier with a string to pull the door shut, put in a plateful of tuna at the back of the carrier, and waited in the drain, breathing in the lovely scent of cat poo. After several near misses, Mr Black finally walked towards the carrier. Instead of going INTO the carrier, he walked over to the edge of the drain where I was crouching, took a good sniff and good look and went "YOU again. Duh". And walked off without even going near the tuna.
His mange has now spread to his back and I really want to get it treated for his sake (and all the cats on this street). Neutering him is a definite must.
I have 3 options left to try to trap this fella.
1. Add some vet approved sleeping pill into his food and follow him until he dozes off and catch him
2. Stalk him when he's distracted and throw a towel over him and risk being mauled
3. Get a new trap (with your help and my cost) and see it works
Can you help with #3? The trap will also help me trap any new unaltered cats or cats who need medical treatment that come to my street. I've gone to quite a number of places to get new springs for your trap but it's just not available. I considered bungee cords but they aren't "springy" enough.
So, we've got Cathy her very own personal trap now, and our busted springs have been replaced.
We're all set now....to lend you the traps, that is.
It's not like we are promoting trapping, but it IS an option for your to consider. Some people prefer to do it the fast way (ie. trapping).
