Hi everyone,

In line with promoting our ongoing One-Street CNRM, we now have THREE cat-traps to lend out to you folks who are game to use it.

Cathy uses the trap and there has been no mishaps so far. In fact, Cathy even bought one herself yesterday.

But CP used it once and swears she'll never use it again because Blackie banged himself on the cage and injured his face. Not so serious, the vet says, but the experience had traumatised CP so much she swears she doesn't even want to see the trap again.

Our vet has used it twice to trap a few elusive cats (now neutered). Some other folks have used it too.

If you want to use the trap, we have three to lend out to you.

We want to thank the good samaritan (who insists his name cannot be revealed) who not only donated all three traps to us, but also helped repair the last two (destroyed by Blackie and another cat) with brand new springs.

If you'd like to borrow, please write to me at chankahyein@gmail.com

Sorry I tried, but could not get any better traps.

Two with me now, one more still under repair.

It would help very much to decrease the trauma, if you monitor the traps closely and quickly cover the trap with a cloth once the cat has been trapped.

But also be forewarned that cats are incredibly smart. Read this hilarious account from Cathy:

This extremely elusive Mr Black cat is beginning to drive me nuts.  I've passed your trap to my opposite neighbour to see if he can help trap him since Mr Black goes there to eat (this neighbour has many cats of his own who have been neutered).  He tried at the porch, he tried at the back, but no luck.

So I used my own carrier with a string to pull the door shut, put in a plateful of tuna at the back of the carrier, and waited in the drain, breathing in the lovely scent of cat poo. After several near misses, Mr Black finally walked towards the carrier.  Instead of going INTO the carrier, he walked over to the edge of the drain where I was crouching, took a good sniff and good look and went "YOU again.  Duh".  And walked off without even going near the tuna.

His mange has now spread to his back and I really want to get it treated for his sake (and all the cats on this street).  Neutering him is a definite must.

I have 3 options left to try to trap this fella.

1. Add some vet approved sleeping pill into his food and follow him until he dozes off and catch him
2. Stalk him when he's distracted and throw a towel over him and risk being mauled
3. Get a new trap (with your help and my cost) and see it works

Can you help with #3?  The trap will also help me trap any new unaltered cats or cats who need medical treatment that come to my street.  I've gone to quite a number of places to get new springs for your trap but it's just not available.  I considered bungee cords but they aren't "springy" enough.

So, we've got Cathy her very own personal trap now, and our busted springs have been replaced.

We're all set now....to lend you the traps, that is.

It's not like we are promoting trapping, but it IS an option for your to consider.  Some people prefer to do it the fast way (ie. trapping).
