Tiger Fights Back

We have all heard of the adage “Enough is enough!”, haven’t we?
And we all know (or think we know) that Tiger is ever peaceful and timid and that he has been tolerating all the Cow-attacks and bullying for the last 9 years. Tiger was target-practice for the Cows, we thought. Hence, poor Tiger…
However, recently, we suddenly realised that perhaps we’ve got it all wrong all these years (that shouldn’t be surprising at all since we humans are oh-so-sadly-mistaken that we know when in actual fact, we don’t!). Maybe, just maybe, Tiger has been the alpha all these years. And that is why even though he has been yelled, screamed and war-cried at, he had never had to be hauled to the vet on emergencies due to Cow-bites. So, maybe Tiger has some secret up his sleeves after all?
Tonight, something happened right before our eyes which may prove the above theory right.
Jia-Wen had just come home and was sitting on Cleo’s sofa in Bunny’s room. Whenever any human sits on Cleo’s sofa, Cleo must always jump up to accompany the human. That’s Cleo’s rule. So Cleo did just that.
Then, Tiger came along and being not so perceptive, he didn’t know Cleo was already on the sofa so Tiger tried to jump up too.
Tiger did, and was immediately attacked by Cleo with a warning scratch.
Tiger landed on the floor and we all felt sorry for Tiger, so words of comfort were offered to “poor Tiger”, as always.
Suddenly, without warning (and this is totally unexpected), Tiger decided to fight back. He jumped back up onto the sofa and lashed out at Cleo!!
Jia-Wen and I were totally taken aback. Oh wow….what IS happening here??? A change in leadership or has it always been this way, without our knowledge?
But wait, as that happened, do you know what else happened?
This is another unexpected event…totally.
Cow came in and was about to lunge at Tiger (for attacking his niece, Cleo).
Oh wow….is this about family or colour, we don’t know. Cow had clearly come in to defend Cleo, who by now, had gone into hiding under the sofa.
Tiger backed away and we had to mediate. We shooed Cow out of the room to prevent casualties and a trip to the vet. It’s already far too late at night. Anyhow, our priority was to prevent any fight, no matter what the reason might be. There is no such thing as righteous or honour fighting which could result in injuries to any party. Please, no.
Cleo hiding under the sofa.
Don’t let this posture fool you. Cow IS keeping watch.
Tiger stalking Cleo.
Is it safe for me to come out yet?
Back to normal now.
I see you, Cleo….
And peace reigns again at Bunny’s Place.
Goodnight, everyone!
