As you might know, weve recently been busy revamping our snake enclosures and moving them into our quarantine. Bloodshort was one of the last snakes to have his enclosure relocated. Heres a video of him enjoying and investigating his fresh new enclosure set up! We changed his water bowl to a tub to allow him to soak in the water. Blood pythons live in habitats close to or within water bodies such as rivers and swamps.
Unfortunately, blood pythons are poached in large numbers for the pet trade and the leather trade. Bloodshort was probably smuggled into Singapore to be illegally sold as a pet. However, Bloodshort isnt as tame as some of the other rescued snakes in our care. Bloodshort is still aggressive and still retains a wild character, and we hope to repatriate her in time to come.
In the weeks to come, we will feature Venilla, the largest animal at our rescue centre, and seeing how her new enclosure is coming along!
