This is Stanley.
A few weeks ago, I wondered if he was a lost cat and put out a notice looking for his owners. No one has come forward to claim him so I am now putting him up for adoption.
Stanley was taken to the vet after he had been in an accident. He had a broken left hind leg and a severe wound that was maggot infested. His rescuer could not afford to do more than treat the maggot wounds so I agreed to take on Stanley, sort out his broken leg and get him adopted. The vet that Stanley was being treated for his wounds is a small practice and did not have an X-ray machine so I took him to another vet for his leg to be properly examined and X-rayed.
The X-ray at Vet no. 2 showed that he had both a broken femur and dislocated him. It had been left untreated for so long that it was now a chronic condition. It was decided that Stanley should recover from the flu (he caught this just before he left the first vet) before the operation to reset his leg and put his hip back into the joint.
Meanwhile a blood test came back which the result that Stanley is FIV+. He has been test three times – it is a confirmed diagnosis.
Stanley needs a home where he is an only cat or is with other FIV+ cats or with cats who have been vaccinated against FIV. He has to live indoors – he cannot be allowed to out because he can pass on FIV – and cannot be with other cats who do not have FIV or have not been vaccinated.
If you know anyone who already has an FIV+ cat and may be able to offer Stanley a home, please share this with them.
This is urgent. Stanley had the operation to set his left hind leg and hip properly last week. He is recovering and is having physio everyday to regain proper use of his leg. He will soon be ready to leave the vet’s and he needs a home.
