Only YOU Can Save Dog Like James Mar

With so many stray dogs in Thailand, sadly dogs fighting is a reality. While competing for food, shelter and territories, life can be a struggle for dogs that don�t have family or a pack of their own.

James Mar is an example of one of those dogs who struggles to find his place in the world of street dogs.

James Mar is lucky in that he has a kind local feeding him and keeping an eye out for him. That however does not keep him out of danger of attacks by other dogs. He still has a tough time on the streets of Phuket.

Recently in a competition for resources, another street dog attacked James Mar leaving him with a horrible wound on his back. If left untreated, this would could ultimately have cost James Mar his life if a serious infection set in. James Mar would have also been in terrible pain and not able to care for himself as well as he usually can.

Thankfully, the kind local who feeds James Mar knew about Soi Dog. She contacted us and animal rescue officer Khun Jaroon rushed down to the other end of the island to pick him up, over an hours� drive away from the shelter.

James Mar was understandably terrified. Most street dogs barely leave their territories, let alone travel in a truck! He took some time to relax once in the clinic, but once he did Dr Eed was able to assess and treat his injury.

James Mar made it to the shelter just in time. His wound had not yet become infected and was able to be cleaned and treated immediately, with pain relief and antibiotics given to aid in his recovery. It may have been an entirely different story though if James had not been found when he was.

James Mar was only able to be helped thanks to the members of the Emergency Response Team. This team ensures the animals who need treatment the most receive the care they need.

Sadly though, James Mar�s case is not unusual and more dogs and cats just like him need your help. You don�t have to be in Thailand to make a difference. You can make a difference from anywhere and your help means so much to these animals who have no one else to turn to.
