CELEBRATING OUR FELLOW EARTHLINGS!

On the 26th of June 2015, Nepal celebrated Kukur Puja – the second day of Tihar (the Festival of Lights). On this day, Nepalese cherish the special relationship that humans and all dogs share, be they pets, service dogs or strays! Crows and cows are also revered during this five-day-long festival.

BUT we dont have to wait for a special day to acknowledge our sentient animal friends, whether they be wild, domestic, mammalian, oceanic, hooved, scaled, or feathered! We can appreciate them every day, simply by letting those who are wild live in their natural habitats, rejecting products made from animals, and denouncing animal cruelty.

In addition to living animal-friendly lives, let us also lend our voices to the voiceless on these upcoming special days this year!

International Tiger Day, 29 July 2015 there are less than 3,200 tigers left in the wild.

World Elephant Day, 12 August 2015 an estimated 100 African elephants are killed each day. They could be extinct by the end of the next decade.

World Orangutan Day, 19 August 2015 there are only between 52,500 and 76,500 orangutans left in the wild.

World Rhino Day, 22 September 2015 on average, 3 African rhinos are killed each day for their horns. About 29,000 are left todate.

FINALLY, on World Animal Day (4 October 2015) and Wildlife Conservation Day (4 December 2015), lets band together to fight animal cruelty and wildlife crime! Together, we can make a difference.
