NATIVE WILDLIFE RESCUE ROUNDUP: 10th JULY 2015
1. (Top two) Can you spot the snakes playing hide and seek in the top two pictures? Do you know what species of snake they are? When spotted in a garden, these snakes are probably far more scared of us than we are of them, and try desperately to hide wherever they can. Some succeed, while the rest may just continue to look desperate!
2. (Bottom right) Meet “Gizmo” the barn owl, who had secured an awkward spot to roost for the day, raising concerns for his well-being among local residents. We advised them to observe Gizmo until the evening, to see if he flew away. Thanks go to the kind caller who helped to keep an eye on Gizmo and updated us that Gizmo did indeed fly away safely!
3. (Bottom left) Kasper is a nightjar, a nocturnal insectivorous species of bird. He found himself in a spot of trouble when he flew into someone’s bathroom by mistake. Kasper was stranded for a while, but thankfully the homeowner left the windows open allowing Kasper to find the way out. We are glad that Kasper managed to fly out safely.
Do remember to call the ACRES 24-hour Wildlife Rescue Hotline at 9783 7782 if you spot any wild animals in Singapore who may need some help.
