After Karuna's visit to the vet's, I went back home, grabbed my carrier and went off to fetch Wei Leng and June, with Only-One and her mum, Orange, in tow. By the way, Only-One is female.
This is Wei Leng. Orange and Only-One are in the carrier.
Orange is a lovely cat.
We'll check Only-One first.
Still a little thin, but the abdomen is quite bloated, probably due to over-eating, what with AD and mother's milk. She cannot be dewormed yet as it has not been one week since the last one. There are probably still some more worms in there.
Her temperature is normal.
Orange seems well also.
Checking to see if Orange is already pregnant.
I never knew this, but according to the vet, female cats can get pregnant as early as TWO WEEKS after delivery. Upon copulation, they will ovulate.
June and Wei Leng were very interested to learn more about cats. They both told us that Orange's "boyfriend" is always lurking around outside. So we said they should attempt to catch the boyfriend to be neutered as that would solve many problems, ie. prevent other female cats from getting pregnant.
Little Only-One waiting inside the carrier for her mum...isn't that cute?
Wait little one, mummy's coming in soon.
Nope, Orange is not pregnant. She's got a huge bladder, but is not pregnant.
Phew...what a relief.
Her mammary glands are also not swollen as she had not been feeding much. So, she is ready to be spayed. The plan now is to separate Only-One from her today so that she no longer suckles.
Orange's spaying is scheduled for this Friday.
And meanwhile, June will attempt to catch the "boyfriend".
Today's consultation is sponsored from our funds.
