ITS ME, BOOGALOO… DO YOU REMEMBER ME?
I arrived at the Soi Dog shelter recently because I was covered in tumours. I am a very old boy about 11 years of age and I have lived my entire life on the streets of Thailand.
There has never been anybody to look after me; I have always had to fend for myself. I did okay until I got really sick. There were tumours all over my body and especially my tail. I was suffering and weak and covered in crusty, weeping sores. A kind person who found me called Soi Dog.
At the shelter I was put on medication for anaemia and the demodectic mange that had caused me to lose all my fur. Then the vets had to do something called surgery. This was to remove the tumours, but also to amputate my tail as it was simply beyond repair.
The surgery thing was okay because I was sleeping. Since a few days have passed now, I am feeling so much better. The vets have found a different type of tumour on me but they need for me to fully recover from the surgery before they start me on medication called chemotherapy.
This tumour I have is called TVT or transmissible venereal tumour and the vets say it is very common among us street dogs and usually very successfully treated with this chemotherapy medicine. I am not yet strong enough for that though.
In the short time I have been at the shelter, people like YOU have done so much for me. It was only because of Soi Dog supporters funding my treatment that I was able to get medication for my skin problems and my anaemia, and that the vets were able to remove the other tumours and the damaged tail that was making me so sick.
People like you are the ONLY hope dogs like me have. There is nobody else; no other source of funding. Will you please help? No amount is too small to make a big difference a small, monthly gift from you will go so much further here in Thailand.
I am Boogaloo, an old boy from the streets. If you believe its not too late to give me a second chance at life, will you please click on my pictures to help?
Every day, Soi Dog Foundation picks up sick and injured stray animals that are in desperate need of medical treatment. With no government funding, we urgently need YOUR support to save them.
