Meet Froot, a baby fruit bat who was stranded on the floor. She was calling for help, but it was too early in the day for bats to be active. It was Froots lucky day, as a kind member of public spotted her and called us for help.
When infant animals are found and there is a chance that the adults are still around somewhere, our first priority is to try and reunite them. Reunion with the parent/s is the best outcome for any young wild animal, as his/her mother and family are the ones best equipped to care for him/her!
Thankfully, within minutes of Froot crying for her mother, something magical happened. The mother flew down to the baby, they called to each other, and the baby locked herself onto the mother, and she took off with the baby!
Please excuse our shaky and dark video, as our rescue team always executes bat rescues in a dimly-lit environment whenever possible so as to not scare the bats, and we were excited too!
Do remember to call the ACRES 24-hour Wildlife Rescue Hotline at 97837782 if you spot any wild animal in Singapore who may need some help.
