NATIVE WILDLIFE RESCUE ROUNDUP: 5th JUNE 2015

Do remember to call the ACRES 24-hour Wildlife Rescue Hotline at 97837782 if you spot any wild animals in Singapore who may need some help.

1. (Left) Boo and Buffy are insectivorous bats who got lost on the platform floor of an MRT station. Luckily they were spotted by a kind member of public. The gentleman tried not only to get help from the station staff; he also took a bus all the way back to the station to keep an eye on the bats until we arrived. Gladly, both Boo and Buffy were not suffering from any injuries and were released in a more suitable location shortly after rescue.

2. (Top right) Carrot, a reticulated python, was found resting in the middle of a road junction. Our thanks go to the concerned workers at a nearby construction site for placing traffic cones to ensure the safety of Carrot and motorists, and also to the police for alerting us! Carrot was safely rescued from the road for release into a suitable habitat.

3. (Bottom right) Dumpling is a young common palm civet who got stranded during a tree pruning operation. Unfortunately, Dumpling could not be reunited with her mother, who had fled the scene in panic. Poor Dumpling was left alone but, thankfully, the site personnel took Dumpling in and kept her safe and called us to assist. Our thanks to the Singapore Zoo for taking Dumpling in for rehabilitation and release!
