[BREAKING NEWS] Tanjong Malim Council Launches Appalling “1 Dog 10 Ringgit” Campaign
The Tanjong Malim, Perak council has just announced an appalling stray dog catching campaign beginning June 3rd, where they are “rewarding” the public to send in stray dogs in exchange for a RM10 bounty.
We strongly believe that this method of incentivizing the public to conduct mass culling of innocent strays is neither humane nor effective as a long term strategy in curbing stray overpopulation.
We urge the compassionate public to immediately contact the Tanjong Malim council and their local MP, Y.B. Dato’ Seri Ong Ka Chuan, to reconsider this decision.

[UPDATE]
The Tanjong Malim council has canceled this campaign due to public outcry. The innocent stray dogs are saved by the bell! Thank you to everyone that has spread awareness on this issue.
We hope that the council will seek a proper and permanent solution towards managing the strays, such as Trap-Neuter-Release and working with the local shelters, rescuers and pet owners for a compassionate, long term solution.
